How to operate a CNC lathe safely

I. Safety Preparations Before Operation

1. Proper Attire: Wear tight-fitting work clothes and safety shoes. Long hair must be completely tucked into a work cap. Gloves and loose clothing/high heels are strictly prohibited when operating rotating parts.

2. Equipment Pre-inspection: Check the stability of the guardrails, ensure sufficient lubrication, and confirm that the chuck wrench and tool holder wrench have been removed and returned to their designated positions.

3. Program Verification: Unverified programs are strictly prohibited from being used directly on the machine. Simulate the operation beforehand to confirm there are no issues such as tool collisions or path interference.

II. Safety Control During Machining

1. Operational Protection: Keep the safety door closed throughout the entire automatic machining process. Opening it midway is strictly prohibited. Operators must not leave their posts without authorization.

2. Operational Prohibitions: Hands must not be placed inside the machining area. Handling the rotating spindle or workpiece is prohibited. Do not measure or clean chips until the workpiece has completely stopped.

3. Abnormal Handling: If abnormal noises, chipping, or other abnormalities are detected, immediately press the emergency stop button prominently displayed on the control panel to stop the machine and troubleshoot the problem.

III. Safe Post-Operation Cleanup

1. Standard Shutdown: First, stop the spindle rotation, then exit the CNC system, and finally disconnect the main power supply to avoid idling, power consumption, and circuit damage.

2. Site Cleanup: Use a soft brush to clean iron filings from the guide rails, sort and recycle metal scraps, and remove oil and debris around the machine tool to prevent slipping.

3. Equipment Maintenance: Regularly check the tool wear, replace dulled tools promptly, and clean the electrical cabinet cooling fan weekly to prevent dust accumulation and short circuits.
